I finished it last night! I would have finished this square Monday night, but I ran out of yarn as I was two rows away from the end. So the next day I hurried to the craft store to pick up another skein and finished it in about 5 minutes.
This was an awesome square to complete. It was a lot of fun and quite simple. I’m actually skipping quite a few of the easier squares to do the more intermediate ones that form a picture, like this one. By the way, the little dots of color all around the edge of the square are straight pins that I use to block with. Just in case you were wondering if those were part of the square.
On a related note, I’ve decided to knit a baby blanket for a friend of ours who is due in two months. Why this didn’t occur to me sooner, I have no idea. I think two months is plenty of time, but I might be underestimating the amount of time this takes.
One of my first knitting projects was a baby blanket made for another family friend. It was extremely simple and very soft, but I didn’t think it would make much of an impression. It turned out to be the baby’s favorite blanket. The little boy is two years old now and he still has the blanket on his bed. I feel encouraged to make another one.
So I decided on this teddy bear blanket to knit. I was looking for something a bit more unique, but something I could knit up rather quickly, as I have a limited amount of time. This looks so adorable! I’m hoping Mommy-To-Be and Baby will love it!
Off to work on yet another GAAA!!! square.
