As if this project wasn’t taking long enough, I decided last week to re-knit some of the squares I have already completed. Kind of crazy, I know, but I have my reasons. For one, I want this afghan to be as near perfect as possible. I know it won’t be perfect compared to other finished afghans I’ve seen, but I can come close. A few of my squares have some small imperfections that I just cannot ignore. They may not be easily seen to someone else, but I can see them and that just nags at me.
Secondly, as is the case with this square, I had bought a yarn that looked like a light brown color when it was on the skein, but when I knitted a square with it, the yarn looked almost purple. I knitted another square with this yarn and it still looked purple-ish to me. So I decided to re-knit the purple-ish squares and picked up a really nice chocolate brown colored yarn.
The new square is pictured on the left and the old one on the right. The light makes the old version look almost off-white, but that is so not what it looks like in person. While I certainly didn’t enjoy re-knitting a square, I am much happier with the darker brown color.
I may have just set myself back another couple of months, but I’m thinking it’ll be worth it in the end.
Don’t worry, the dessert-related posts will be back tomorrow!
